Pattaya

Pattaya is Thailand largest resorttown located 150 km to the south-east of Bangkok. It is located right on Gulf of Thailand coast. Its proximity to Bangkok make it a popular holiday destination for both foreign and Thai tourists. Pattaya’s coastal location in central Thailand means it experiences no real extremes of heat or cold, making it an all-year-round destination.

This holiday city offers almost everything a tourist may be looking for: beaches, hotels suitable for any budget, hundreds of restaurants, big malls, a nice island nearby (KoLarn) and many, many bars. Itis best known for its fast-paced lifestyle. While the city is a “party place” (with good reason), there is also something for those who like adventure, curiosities, culture or just a place in the sun.

Pattaya Beach is a 3 kilometer long beach which stretches from Walking Street at the southern end, to the DusitThani hotel at the northern end. The beach is a central feature of the city; it is long, but rather narrow, with a promenade running its length. There’s more than sunbathing on offer: parasailing, jet skiing and the classic banana boats are all available for you to enjoy, as well as beachside shacks that can prepare your favorite Thai dish.

Another popular area of the town is Jomtien Beach. Only 3 kilometers down from Pattaya Beach, Jomtien is recommended to those who seek a quieter resort than central Pattaya. This5-kilometer long, straight beach is popular for windsurfers and water sports enthusiasts. Hotels and other accommodation facilities are available along the road that runs parallel to the shore.

Further south there is a little know Na Jomtien Beach. The beach is an extension of the more popular Jomtien Beach but lacks the busy road that Jomtien Beach has running in parallel with it.The shore is slightly wider than others in the area and offers an excellent retreat for holidaymakers. It is an excellent location for families with children as they can play safely along the sands. There are of course restaurants and bars nearby and a number of holiday resorts.

Pattaya is a place that has not only bars and restaurants but it also has many activities that it is impossible to get bored here. Families with kids have the choice of two great water parks to choose from: the Cartoon Network Amazone and the thrilling Ramayana Water Park. Don’t forget to visit PhraTamnak Hill where you can see a panoramic view of the whole Pattaya Bay and the city. The hill is most popular in the evening because of greatsunset views. There is also the Big Buddha statue not to be missed. For those seeking a thrill and adrenaline of real adventure we highly recommend the “Flight of the Gibbon”. It will allow you experience the magic and adventure of Thailand’s rainforest whilegliding through the jungle canopy via 3 km of wire zip-lines and scenic sky bridges. One of the most interesting attractions in Pattayais the Sancturay of Truth. This astonishing teak-wood structure consists of sculptures of deities, angels, Brahman andking of Nagas. If you want toenjoy white sandy beaches, blue-green and very clear seawater, head off to Koh Larn Island, located just a 30 min speedboat ride from Pattaya. A visit to Nong Nooch Garden is a must. It is a large and very well maintained botanical garden located 30 min drive from Pattaya center. If you are into cabaret shows you have a choice of Alcazar and Tiffany shows. There is also the Ocean World which is the largest Ocean Aquarium in South East Asia with over 4000 marine animals both from Thai waters and worldwide on view in the 100 meter long tunnel.

koh larn island

Koh Larn Islandnear Pattaya is a little piece of paradise beyond the hustle and bustle of Pattaya. This little idyllic island offers white sandy beaches and clear blue waters. It is located just a short speedboat ride away from Pattaya. It has long been an alternative retreat for those who have become jaded with Pattaya’s overdeveloped and overcrowded beaches. Since the island is not so far away, visitors can easily go there in the morning, stay for several hours and then come back to Pattaya Beach in the late afternoon. The most convenient way of doing this is by taking a guided tour.
