Krabi

Krabi is a coastal province in the southwest of Thailand. It is the perfect holiday destination for those looking for a serene area to vacation. The geography of Krabi is quite unique, featuring towering limestone cliffs, pristine tropical rainforest, caves, waterfalls and mangroves. With postcard perfect beaches, unparalleled scenic beauty, beautiful resorts and loads of attractions, it makes for anideal holiday retreat.

Krabi has many beautiful beaches and most of them are located on the paradise-like islands that you can explore while island hopping. The liveliest beach in Krabi and also the most popular one is Ao Nang. The small town located near the beach consists chiefly of a main street, which is dominated by restaurants, pubs and shops.Railay Beach is simply the most stunning beach that you would come across. In fact it is often considered to be among the best beaches in the world. Cut off from the mainland, you have to take a boat to reach it, giving it the feel of a private island.KlongMuang is a scenic beach area located to the north of Ao Nang, with spectacular views over the Andaman Sea and the closest coastal access to the Koh Hong island group, a protected marine park of astonishing beauty.

The stunning Phi Phi Islands are located in the Krabi province. Phi Phi Don, the larger island, offers sheer limestone cliffs, fine sand beaches and hidden coves. Smaller Phi PhiLeh is uninhabited and made up of steep limestone cliffs rising sheer out of the turquoise waters. It also features caves and small rocky coves. Rampant development has rendered the center of Phi Phi Don, called Tonsai Village, a chaotic mess of hotels, restaurants, bars and shops. If you want tranquility, head to the Laem Tong Beach located on the north-east coast of the island, 45 minutes by long-tail boat from Tonsai.Laem Tong Beach is beautiful, quiet and secluded since it can only be reached by boat.It could not be more different from Tonsai: there are just a few resorts and a few local restaurants there. Not too far from the beach are Mosquito Island, Bamboo Island and Hin Klang - all great snorkeling spots. In the far distance you can see Koh Lanta and Railay Beach.

Krabi has a moist, tropical climate, influenced chiefly by monsoon winds that vary in direction according to the season.Yearly temperatures in Krabi average around 28-32degrees C during the day, with a maximum of around 38 degrees during March and April and a minimum of 24 degrees – usually a temporary drop during a big rainstorm. With the humidity though, the “feels like” temperature is usually around 5 degrees C higher than the actual air temperature. The sea temperature is a very pleasant 28-30 degrees C all year round.

Many people visit in the high season (November to March) because of pleasant temperatures, blue skies and low rainfall. As a result Krabi is quite busy and everything is a little more expensive. Hotels and tours can be quite crowded and the atmosphere is not quite so laid back.Visiting Krabi in the low season has lots of advantages. Temperatures average a comfortable 30 degrees C and light warm winds make sightseeing tours very pleasant. During the monsoon season, it doesn't rain every day. The usual weather pattern is for short dramatic showers, with plenty of sunshine in between.
