Water Drainage System Construction In Jomtien Finished On Schedule Say Pattaya City Officials

02 Apr, 2021

Months of water drainage system construction on Jomtien Second Road and the nearby area is completed on schedule said Pattaya City officials yesterday afternoon.

The project stretches from the Rompho Market to the Dongtan curve on Jomtien Beach which is aimed to solve flooding problems in the area. The area, in general, is lower than surrounding roads which is easily flooded after heavy rain.

The project is one of ten total projects to solve flood problems in the Pattaya area which cost a total of 280 million baht and took roughly 180 days of construction started from November 16th of last year until April 4th this year.

Yesterday, (April 1st), the construction was declared by Pattaya City officials as officially completed. The road surface will be painted for traffic lanes in the very near future, officials familiar with the project stated.

The Pattaya News notes that the construction drew significant criticism from residents and business owners but should cause long-term improvement in regards to lack of flooding.

Additionally, concerns of immediately starting more projects in the area to set underground cables and resume more construction are unfounded stated Pattaya City officials, although will take place at a later point, likely in 2022.
