Grounded By A Pandemic

10 Jul, 2021

The latest photos of a forlorn Don Mueang airport in Bangkok are a painful reminder that Thailand’s tourism and economy are in a worrying state. Almost zero traveller was found in the building, which was once the top airport in the country before Suvarnabhumi Airport was opened.

Don Mueang was the second airfield established in Thailand, after Sa Pathum airfield, which was now Sa Pathum horse racing course in Bangkok.

Don Mueang airport was opened on March 27, 1914, over a 107 years ago.
