Chonburi Province Releases Last Remaining Covid-19 Patient.

09 May, 2020

Chonburi Public Relations announced this afternoon that the last patient being treated for Covid19 in the entire province, in Phan Thong, has been released.

Chonburi is now declared as a white zone, which means no recorded cases of the Covid-19 Coronavirus in fourteen days AND not a single patient in the hospital for treatment.

Pattaya City has had no cases for 24 days and will reach a month without a single confirmed case of the virus next week.

The Thai Government has said the next phase of reopening businesses is scheduled to take place around May 17. The vast majority of Pattaya businesses are based in the entertainment and hospitality sector which, at this time, is all force closed.

The Thai Government has not finalized the list of businesses that will be allowed to open at this time, although many expect that bars and entertainment will not be in the next phase as a nation.

The Government has made it clear, however, that they are not basing reopening decisions on individual areas being clear of the Covid19 Coronavirus as they are concerned if they opened attractions like beaches and nightlife people would be tempted to travel from areas that have not been clear of the virus for at least fourteen days.

For now, the beaches, tourist attractions and nightlife of Pattaya remain closed, although it appears that the date of a potential reopening will be sooner versus later if the current Covid19 situation continues.
