9,351 New Covid Cases, 56 More Deaths

There were 9,351 new Covid-19 cases and 56 more fatalities recorded during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Sunday morning.

The number of new cases dropped from the 9,742 announced on Saturday, when the country recorded 74 more deaths.

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said on Sunday afternoon that Bangkok led new infections with 929 cases, followed by Songkhla (682), Nakhon Si Thammarat (582), Pattani (511), Yala (487) and Chiang Mai (461). 

The country received four new cases from Cambodia and one each from Switzerland and Malaysia. 

 

Bangkok registered five new fatalities, followed by four each in Phuket and Rayong, and three each in Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi, Songkhla, Chon Buri and Sa Kaeo.  

On Saturday, 101,000 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals, including 2,432 seriously ill patients and 546 dependent on ventilators.  

Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 1,821,619 Covid-19 patients, 1,703,301 of whom have recovered to date.

Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 1,850,482 Covid-19 cases, with 1,730,727 complete recoveries so far.

The death toll stood at 18,661 during the third wave and 18,755 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Global Covid-19 cases rose by 374,274 in 24 hours to 244,109,329. The worldwide death toll went up by 5,915 to 4,959,373. The United States had the most cases at 46,294,210, up 28,824 and the most deaths at 756,205, up 484. On Saturday, 10,098 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
