Guidelines For Phuket Sandbox

Phuket Sandbox is a no-quarantine reopening policy for fully vaccinated tourists. Tourists who can show that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and tested negative 72 hours before their flight to Phuket can travel freely without quarantine.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here are step-by-step guidelines for entering and exiting Phuket from 1st of July 2021.

 

 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS AND GUIDELINES

  • Applicable for international travelers who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 with vaccines approved by the WHO (AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Sinovac, and Sinopharm) no less than 14 days earlier, but no more than one year and have a Vaccine Certificate to prove it.
  • Applicable for children under the age of 6 years old who do not need to be vaccinated, but they are required to take a Covid-19 test upon arrival at their own expense (90 USD to 120 USD).
  • Applicable for children between 6 and 18 years of age travelling with fully vaccinated parents or guardians, but they are required to take a Covid-19 test upon arrival at their own expense (90 USD to 120 USD).
  • Must be from a country with low and medium risk as compiled by the Ministry of Public Health. The lists can be found here (mostly in Thai).
  • Must have been in your departure origin country for at least 21 days.
  • Must have an insurance covering treatment and medical expenses related to COVID-19 with a minimum coverage of 100,000 USD.
  • All arrivals are required to stay in an accommodation establishment that is certified with the Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration (SHA) Plus certification.
  • For travelers who wish to visit Phuket only, no minimum stay is required but they must leave Phuket (Thailand) for another country on or before the intended departure date.
  • For travelers who wish to continue the journey to other Thai provinces, they must stay in Phuket for at least 14 nights, and thereafter will be allowed to travel domestically.

 

 

BEFORE DEPARTURE

  • Obtain a Certificate of Entry (CoE) which could be acquired online via www.entrythailand.go.th.
  • CoE is a letter issued by the Thai Embassy or Consulate to allow a foreign visa holder to enter Thailand. Requirements for the CoE are:
    • copy of passport
    • copy of the insurance covering treatment and medical expenses related to COVID-19 with a minimum coverage of 100,000 USD
    • copy of confirmed flight booking
    • copy of confirmed SHA Plus hotel booking with a QR code
  • Must have a RT-PCR Covid free certificate to prove that the tourist has tested negative for Covid no more than 72 hours before arriving.

 

 

UPON ARRIVAL

  • Download the Mor Chana tracing application. The GPS tracking in your phone cannot be turned off. In case you do not have a phone, you will be required to wear a wristband with a tracking device.
  • Be tested for Covid at the airport or a designated venue at your own expense (RT-PCR test; cost 90 USD to 120 USD).
  • Transfer to your hotel by a SHA Plus certified vehicle.
  • In-room waiting for test results within 12 hours.
  • If tested negative, you can roam around Phuket.
  • Must stay in Phuket for 15 days before you can travel to other provinces.
  • Visitors will be tested again on Day 6 or 7 at your own expense (RT-PCR test; cost 90 USD to 120 USD).
  • Visitors will be tested again on Day 12 or 13 at your own expense (RT-PCR test; cost 90 USD to 120 USD).

 

 

BEFORE LEAVING

  • If visitors are going to other provinces in Thailand, they must have evidence that they have stayed at a SHA+ accommodation for at least 14 nights.
