‘THAILAND PASS’ Registration eased for International Arrivals from 01 June 2022

Thailand’s Centre of COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) today approved the simplified Thailand Pass registration and entry rules for international arrivals, effective 1 June 2022.

Foreign nationals are still required to apply for a Thailand Pass (via https://tp.consular.go.th/), but will only need to provide passport details, vaccination, and a US$10,000 health insurance policy. The system will automatically issue a Thailand Pass QR code for the applicants. Meanwhile, Thais will no longer be required to apply for a Thailand Pass.

Upon arriving in Thailand, vaccinated travelers must undergo entry screening, and will then be allowed entry and are free to go anywhere in the kingdom.

Unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated travelers who are able to upload proof of a negative RT-PCR or professional ATK test within 72 hours of travel via the Thailand Pass system will also be allowed entry and are free to go anywhere in the kingdom.

The CCSA also approved further easing of nationwide COVID-19 controls with three color-coded zones: The Pilot Tourist Areas or blue zones, the Surveillance or green zone, and the Areas under the Stringent Surveillance or yellow zone.

Night-time entertainment venues; such as, pubs, bars, and karaoke lounges in the green and blue zones will be allowed to resume operation, including the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages on the premises until 24.00 Hrs. However, all venues are told to adhere to the prevention guidelines strictly.

The CCSA also lifted the quarantine requirement for the high-risk contact.

ITC News will be providing updates in detail once the official directives have been announced in the Royal Thai Government Gazette.

Phuket’s THB4.5 Billion Andamanda is Open!

Thailand’s newest integrated resort, the Andamanda Phuket will soft open next week on 21st May 2022. Styled as a leisure and entertainment offering, a water park debut will be the first phase of a larger development by Thailand’s Proud Group with a total investment of THB4.5 billion (USD134 million).

Andamanda will bring a world-class attraction to the resort island featuring 12 slides, 36 activities, and a 10,000 square meter wave pool. Thai culture is a recurring theme with a storyline on the legend of The Lost Kingdom of Nagon. The water park attractions have been designed by WhiteWater West whose credentials include Disney, Six Flags, and Atlantis.

Andamanda

Located in the fast-developing Kathu area, which is strategically situated between Phuket Town (City) and Patong, easy access to Andamanda will be aided by a significant new infrastructure project. The long-awaited Patong Tunnel made news in January of this year when Thailand’s Cabinet approved a THB14.7 billion budget for both a four-lane tunnel and expressway connection to Kathu. Expected to complete by 2027, Kathu is expected to evolve into the island’s new CBD area with key economic indicators such as Central Festival and Floresta already established as the island’s centerpiece.

Thailand Bar in Top 10 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022

BKK Social Club was crowned the best bar in Thailand. Located within the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, BKK Social Club secured the best bar in Thailand award as well as a place in the top 10 rankings.

BKK Social Club is followed by Tropic City (No. 17), Vesper (No. 19), Asia Today (No. 43), and The Bamboo Bar (No. 46).

Including the 4 Bangkok bars in the 51-100 ranking released earlier last week, brings Thailand to a grand total of 9 bars on the 1-100 list. It is a highly commendable recognition, given that (lest we forget), alcohol was banned for a majority period of the pandemic. Thereby we applaud our local industry greatly — on the list or not.

Amazing Thailand, Amazing New Chapters!

After the Great Lockdown, The Tourism Authority of Thailand is anticipating the Great Reboot and of course the Great Rebound. The launch of a new marketing campaign Amazing Thailand's "Amazing New Chapters" focuses on three New Chapters inviting the world’s travelers to experience a deeper connection with the Kingdom’s unique culture and precious environment.

Chapter 1: Awaken Your Senses

This chapter highlights tourism products and services that will awaken all five senses; delicious Thai cuisine and the picturesque natural scenery discovered throughout the kingdom.

Chapter 2: The One You Love

Chapter 2 focuses on tourism segments including families, couples, and friends, inviting travelers to create beautiful memories together in Thailand.

Chapter 3: The Earth We Care

This chapter aims to highlight how nature has been revitalized. The COVID-19 situation has increased ecotourism awareness among the world’s travelers and how their behavior has impacted the environment. There is an increasing trend to spending more time in nature and being increasingly conscious of the impact on natural resources.

Another focus for TAT is to communicate a passion for Responsible Travel, something tourism operators throughout Thailand have embraced, providing a higher quality experience for their guests as a result. This has been achieved by considering all tourism implications on the environment, wildlife, plantations, and local Thai communities, providing tourists with a more meaningful experience.
